About Truett

Our friends at Dog Is My CoPilot, Inc. and Best Friends Animal Society recently helped to transfer nine dogs, two cats and six kittens out of high-intake shelters in the west and into the loving arms of HUA caregivers. The futures of these precious animals were uncertain due to severe overcrowding, with many cats and kittens at risk of euthanasia. Truett is a gentle yet cautious, shy soul who takes a little time to warm up. In the yard, he prefers to keep a little distance, wandering curiously but never straying too far, always mindful not to be left behind. Though he is still learning to trust fully, his quiet loyalty shows in the way he follows his caregivers if they stray too far.  Being with the other dogs helps with his confidence while he is out for playtime.   The leash is a challenge for Truett right now; he tenses when it’s clipped on and often freezes during walks, not quite ready for that step. With patience and kindness, he’s slowly discovering that the world is safe, and every day he grows braver, inching closer to becoming the confident companion he’s meant to be.
