Meet Tomas
About Tomas
Tomas arrived at Hearts United for Animals in 2022 as part of a transport from Texas, as part of a group of shy, feral dogs. From the beginning, he made it clear that human companionship simply isn’t his preference, and that’s okay. Tomas has spent his time at HUA setting firm boundaries, occasionally tolerating the presence of select canine companions, but ultimately choosing a life on his own terms.
Over the years, staff have gently worked to build trust through methods like blanket therapy and low-pressure interaction, but Tomas has confidently decided that people just aren’t his thing. What he does love, however, is the simple joy of being a dog, especially when it comes to enthusiastically tearing apart toys and beds with impressive dedication.
Tomas may never seek out affection, but he is safe, understood, and free to be exactly who he is. His days may not be filled with cuddles, but they are filled with comfort, security, and plenty of well-deserved independence.
