I AM A SANCTUARY SWEETHEART!
Poppy had a person for most of his life but that person passed away. He was sent to live with another person who had no business taking in a dog that he could not in any way properly care for. Poppy came to HUA with such a matted coat that his eyes were completely crusted over. Gentle grooming revealed cataracts and infection, but Poppy had other problems. He was completely terrified of all people. We saw that Poppy desperately needed human companionship, even if he didn't want it. We moved him into the office, into a place we dubbed \"Poppy's Corner,\" because that's where his favorite bed was and he slept there all day long. Poppy woke up for breakfast and dinner, but that was the most animated he ever became--until Poppy Poodle decided it was time to get up. He now hops around the office, acting like the other hooligans who live there. He begs for treats and demands to be taken out in the meadows to enjoy the sunshine. His ears perk up and his eyes look clear and he acts much happier than the downtrodden Poodle who first arrived. Poppy is so happy at HUA, in fact, that he is staying here as a Sanctuary Sweetheart. This charming fellow has been through enough change in his life, and he deserves to remain in the safe place that has afforded him peace and comfort.Adopt Me »
