Davis was in an overcrowded shelter down south. He came to HUA with a bunch of his little friends who were in desperate need of our assistance. Davis was mad when he arrived. We assume he had been in a home at one time because Davis knows basic commands like sit, stay and down and he is house trained. So his little heart must have been broken. He was not quick to make friends with any of his caregivers. We discovered he felt safe in a crate and he wanted to go into one to decompress so we placed a crate in his apartment and left the door open for him. That safety net, and the fact that Davis is very treat motivated, helped us win Davis over and now he is the sweetest, most lovable, charming, happy little fellow around. Still a little slow to warm up to strangers, Davis becomes very devoted with a bit of coaxing. He loves his doggy friends and playing in his yard. We promised Davis we would find him a wonderful new home and he is looking forward to that very much.
