About George

George originally came to HUA as a Tia’s Place dog because there was abuse in the family.  His family eventually realized it would be in his best interest for him to become available as an adoptable dog.  We were told that in his home, George showed some signs of unpredictability and stubbornness.  This is certainly understandable given the situation within the family.  He is just about the most loving dog we have ever known, and he is a super fun guy when he’s playing with his toys and his favorite humans.  He lives with a girl dog who is a bit of a spitfire, and George thinks she is the cat’s meow.  We have never seen any bad behavior on George’s part, but he may display some nervousness and/or stubbornness once he is a member of a family.  A firm but understanding hand is what he needs to understand that he does not have to be in charge.   We think George will be a delightful companion as long as he understands his place and the boundaries that are set for him.  He is such a sweet soul.  He deserves a wonderful life filled with fun and promise.

Buddy Message:

His buddy, Lynn Darcey from Winter Park, FL, sent him this message:

“Hi Georgie!  I love your happy face and want to be your Buddy for whatever time it takes you to find a forever home.  I’ll be rooting for you, because I know once you find the right family, that smile will continue.  Sure, you may be a bit stubborn–that’s your nature as a Basset Hound.  When you find your forever family, I’m sure your stubbornness will become more and more loving.  Keep that smile! We love you!  Your human and other dog buddy, Feta.”

George sends lots of love to Lynn and Feta for their support and encouragement!
