Julianna was brought to Hearts United for Animals after living with a family. We were told she was "too wild" around the small children. A photo sent to our office showed Julianna living outdoors in a small pen. When she arrived it was clear that this beautiful dog had not been treated kindly by humans. She was very fearful and unsure of everything. Nevertheless, the Boxer in Julianna could not keep from showing us short spurts of backend wiggles when we greeted her. Over time and with lots of love and reassurance, Julianna has made great strides. She is doing very well walking on a leash--early on she spun at the end of it out of uncertainty. Her desire to please is enormous but she is still nervous to do something seen as wrong. We are teaching that she is a very good girl, and nothing she does is bad. She wants to learn what is expected of her, and heaps of praise are just the ticket for our darling girl. The perfect home for Julianna would include an energetic, kind hearted human who will calmly teach her the house rules and behavior expectations. Julianna will be a most devoted dog for her special someone.
