Gracie lost her home because she and the Akita could not become friends. Gracie's heart was broken over losing her family and she was despondent for several days after her arrival. She shivered on her huge comfy bed, and gathered her stuffed toys around her for comfort. She did not want humans to try to make her feel better. Gracie was just scared and unsure. Well, nobody can resist a beautiful white Boxer and we were not going let her continue to feel poorly. After lots of socialization, love, reassurances, and encouragement sweet Gracie has become happy again. She has had sleepovers at one of the HUA foster homes with many little dogs and she was an angel. She loves to ride around campus on the golf cart, and even attended an event in Omaha where she had a wonderful time meeting new people. She is a smart girl, too--she sits and shakes her paw so nicely. We've been on the receiving end of some pretty awesome kisses as well. Grace is, by nature, a tad bit shy and she may need some time to warm up to strangers, but she is loving and devoted and very excited about finding her forever home.
