Homeward bound-adopted!

Now living happily in Shawnee, KS.

Alcott was rescued from a horribly disgusting puppy mill in Nebraska. At the hands of those despicable humans, his spirit was almost completely crushed. Not entirely, but just about. He did not understand a single thing about human kindness. We confused him by loving him. Slowly, but surely, he has begun to turn a corner and we could not be more proud of this gentle soul. He takes great comfort in the presence of his room-mates and is learning that if they like us, well, we just might not be so bad. Just recently, Alcott was spotted playing with some toys. We about wept with relief. The day after, he had gathered all of his toys into a big, fluffy pile and was snoozing soundly with his head resting on top. It certainly was a breathtaking sight to behold and gave us great hope that Alcott really will be OK. We feel he is ready to start his new life with a family who will continue to assure him that life can be good, and fair, and maybe even a little fun now and then.
Buddy Messages (1)
His Buddy, Harriet Guberman from San Rafael, CA, sent him this message: "Hello sweet boy. You are a treasure and I am so pleased to be your buddy." Alcott sends Harriet lots of happy, teensy kisses and hugs!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
