Stars

Stars was rescued from a puppy mill in Pennsylvania on September 11th, 2001. It was one of the worst mills imaginable. All of the dogs were in horrible condition. Because of the horrific terrorist attacks that happened on that day all of the dogs were given patriotic names. It was a very frightening and sad day.

Stars is the only dog remaining from the nearly 20 dogs taken that day. She was placed in a home but could just not adjust to home life. She likes things just as they are in her world at HUA and did not care for the change. Stars has the dog version of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. She must have everything exactly the same every day. If a leaf falls from a tree and lands in a manner that does not please her she will bark at it for hours until it is removed. All things in her yard must remain the same. The hose must be hung up exactly as it was found, not even slightly different. The people she knows need to appear the same to her each day. If they do not normally wear a hat and then one day decide to wear one it upsets her to an extreme. Stars has a favorite rock pile that she likes to sort through and line the rocks up in a particular fashion. She will spend hours and hours getting the arrangement just right.

Stars is the sweetest girl in the world. She is so gentle and kind. She loves the attention of her favorite people. She will happily sit to be brushed and will sometimes go with them for short journies outside of her comfort zone. But must return quickly and find everything as she left it.

We are so sad to think what Stars life must have been like at the mill to lead her to the edge of insanity. But we are so happy that she is here with us, to be loved as part of the HUA family forever.
