In February of 1998 we received a phone call from a person who lived at a rural home about fifteen miles from the shelter. She said that two big pups had been dumped out at her house and added, "Of course, I'm not going to feed them."
We left for the location right away. As we parked by the house yard, Roy and his brother Rob bounded out to greet us. They were half-grown big dogs with the huge appetites of growing pups, and they were bone thin. The big dishes of food we gave them could not be devoured fast enough, but they stopped frequently to give us loving, grateful looks and tail wags.
These beautiful brothers have lived here ever since. Roy and Rob are the most loving dogs. They love each other very much and never make so much as a cross remark. They are often seen exchanging kisses. Toward people their attitude is close to worship. They race up to meet us and sit posed before us in loving attention. One these this darling boys will never forget is gratitude.
Roy and Roy never did get adopted, but they don't know that. To them this is their home. They are happy as can possibly be and would be devastated to leave after all these years of loving every aspect of their life here. Rob and Roy are true Sweethearts and part of the reason our Hearts will always be United for the Animals.
