SAD NEWS
After many happy years at HUA Cerise has passed away. She went quickly. She was fine in the morning and then passed from what we think may have been an undetected tumor in her abdomen in the afternoon. She passed away on a Sunday. Sundays were her very favorite days, as there are two very special volunteers who always came to see her on Sundays. She was their special girl. They would take her to the yard for special play time, brushing, many tummy rubs and they always made sure that she got plenty of biscuits, kisses and hugs before they left. Cerise passed away in their loving arms on the way to the emergency hospital on that sad Sunday afternoon.
Thank you to Sally, Karen and all of the other wonderful HUA volunteers and employees for helping to make Cerise so very happy. She was a girl who truly knew she was loved and adored in her home at HUA.

Cerise is so happy to have a Buddy! Her Buddy, Janice Walker from Michigan, sent her this message: "Cerise, you deserve a loving home. I hope that you do not have too long a wait before someone realizes you would be the perfect addition to their home and family." Cerise sends Janice happy kisses.
Cerise is a very smart girl. She learned to sit and walk on a leash almost instantly. She has excellent manners. Cerise is kind and calm. She loves people. Cerise is one of the thousands of dogs who are routinely dumped in the country across the midwest. Cerise was dumped in Missouri. The dogs who are dumped in the country often suffer awful deaths - hit by cars, killed by wild animals, shot by farmers, or they starve. There are few who survive being dumped. Cerise is a shepherd/lab/golden mix. She weighs about 45 pounds. She was born in January of 2001. Cerise is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative and current on all health care.
