Famous Amos

Amos has had some hard luck, but he's not letting it get him down. He was left at a city pound in O'Neill, Nebraska after being given up by his people because they didn't have time for him. The people there adored Amos, but he just wasn't getting adopted. So they contacted beagle rescue, who in turn contacted us. Amos loves his big play yard and his doggie roommates here at HUA. He adores the people who care for him and especially loves his trips to the big community play yards where there are all kinds of fun things for a diligent beagle boy to sniff out!! Amos is welcome to stay here for however long it takes to find him the perfect home. At HUA there are no time limits on making a good match, our residents have nothing to fear. They know that the best is yet to come! Amos is playful, loving, just a peach of a young fellow. He has good house manners. We nick named him 'Famous Amos' because he loves cookies. He will be a devoted, adoring lifelong friend.

Amos is a male beagle. He weighs approximately 30 pounds and was estimated in November of 2006 to be between one and two years of age.

Amos is so happy that he has Buddies!

His Buddy, Robert Meehan, from Vienna, Virginia, sent him this message: "Good luck Amos from our fat, sassy rescued Beagle girl Lady. Whoever adopts you is getting a great little friend." Amos sends Bob and Sassy many happy, grateful beagle boy kisses. UPDATE 12/7/08: A new message for Famous Amos just arrived from the Meehan's along with a special gift for him: "Have a very Merry Christmas, Amos. We hope that Santa brings you a family of your own this year. Bob, Lin, Foxhound 'Asia' & Beagle 'Lady'" Famous Amos sends the Meehan family and their beautiful hound dogs very Merry Christmas wishes and along with many sloppy Beagle kisses of gratitude for their kindess.

His Buddies, Kate and Terry, from Boulder, Colorado, sent him this message: "Hi Amos--you are so cute and look so much like our handsome chocolate beagle Buck who came to us from Hurricane Rita. The lucky people who adopt you will find out what loving and fun companions beagles are." Famos Amos sends Kate, Terry and Buck many grateful, happy beagle boy sniffs and kisses.

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested.
